Sirius is also knows as the "Dog Star", because it is located in the Canis Majoris constellation which is Latin for "The greater dog". It is a Binary Star meaning two Stars that are bound to orbit each other. Although Visibly it looks like one star, it actually consists of two stars that are very close together known as Sirius A & Sirius B .
